Cicada 3301

A view of our old recording setup, where we recorded Cicada 3301

We recorded this episode a couple years back and since then it has been an absolute favorite of mine. When people find out I have a podcast and it’s about Conspiracy Theories the first question is inevitably “What’s your favorite conspiracy theory?” This one is always at the top of my list for several reasons: It’s undeniably real, it involves finding clues and cracking codes, AND no one gets hurt or killed.

But what sets it apart from other similar topics is it’s not just about code cracking and treasure hunting. At its core this is about privacy, truth, and the very fabric of reality itself. When every click and keystroke on your phone or laptop can be tracked, where do we draw the line between privacy and transparency, and WHO gets to draw that line? It’s like peeking behind the curtain of the internet and realizing just how much of ourselves we're putting out there – and how much is still hidden in the shadows.

Cicada's puzzles are all more than they seem – they twist and distort what we think we know, leading us down rabbit holes of speculation and uncertainty. It's a reminder that truth isn't always black and white and can leave you wondering: what other secrets are out there, just waiting to be uncovered?

Some say it's just a game, a test of wit and cunning. Others believe there's a deeper purpose – a hidden truth waiting to be uncovered. Join us as we stare into the abyss and wonder if there’s anything out there staring back. In the end, maybe the meaning is in the journey itself – the thrill of the chase, the camaraderie of fellow seekers, and the endless quest for knowledge and understanding.
